If you want my skin
To the scenic interpretation of the mural verses, to the performativity of the wall scratched thoughts, the performance If you want my skin adds the question about the time which precedes the act of writing, about the moment before the cry is inscribed on the surface. A question that leads us to cross a threshold and enter homes. To focus the attention on the flow of daily life, on the beating heart of an existential dynamism (we are more fascinated by its unraveling than by its identification).
The focus is on the thin bright line which divides and connects the public and private spheres, or rather, on those who live and struggle in this border area. There are the intents and products for the preservation of the walls, which have the function of forming a protective film on the area of application, and when a new graffiti appears, it’s enough to rinse it with water. Behind the writing life: small acts of heroism without result, as once wrote Céline, perhaps, or another poet of assault.
If you want my skin is the second chapter of URBAN SPRAY LEXICON PROJECT, a dramaturgical and performative research of the writings that appear and disappear from the city walls. It consists of Executioner-A brief concert for graffiti, voice and synthesisers (2011-2012), If you want my skin (2013) and the lesson-performance Freedom has many forms. Notes and news from graffiti writings (2013).
With URBAN SPRAY LEXICON PROJECT Ateliersi collects the writings from today annotating and photographing them, and rescues those from the past digging them up in books, reviews and private collections. From the collected material Ateliersi composes a new dramaturgy, storing them in the poems becomes a way of preserving the ephemeral. To these small units of text, on the scene are given cries and whispers: visual signs are transformed into performative gestures. It is an artistic operation where theatrical language operates in straight contact with visual arts and sound design, where the dynamics of an urban landscape become a scenic material. Ateliersi is interested in the street, inhabited by anonymous individuals, where the limit between public and private is mobile and undefined.
